Ned
Penguin of the South Pole needs a vacation and very soon!
He hops on the next iceberg to New York City to visit his pen pal,
Meece Mouse. The excitement begins the moment he sees the tall,
green lady in the harbor. With native New Yorker Meece as his guide,
there can only be fun and adventure ahead. Ned experiences his
first taxi ride while being mesmerized by the bright lights of Times
Square. He is captivated by the amazing skyline as he walks across
the Brooklyn Bridge. The whimsical art and bright, colorful pages
created by local artist, Kip Cosson, make this book a wonderful
children's guide to the many great sights New York has to offer.

Dear Kip,
A few weeks ago my daughter Becky bought "Ned Visits New York" for my
collection of children's books. You asked her if I would provide some
feedback from somebody who reads a lot of children's books, so here goes.
I liked best the bright color layout and illustrations along with the
rhyming story line captures the attention. The animals look like the
animals they represent, yet are bold and playful. It's a pleasing book
for the eye and stimulating to little children. It's also a real New
Yorker's book - from the all of the places you capture right through to
the check list and even the T-shirts (I don't think you see elsewhere
"Keep Back 200 Feet"). The story line has been done before and there is
no punch moral at the end, so I give you 8/10 on my scale.
Thank you for the dedication you inscribed. Good luck in your endeavors
to brighten the world.

We just got the books and they are GREAT !!!!
It's irresistible, it makes you smile and there's so much to
discover on each page. It's just as entertaining for adults as it is for
kids.
I now
want to order two
more for two other kids that I thought of.

I gave each of our grandsons an autographed copy
of Ned Visits New York for Thanksgiving. What a darling, imaginative
story. The artwork is wonderful - just what little people like. Also,
Kip...you have two little guys in So Cal who love the Fire Engine t-shirts
(they are on their 3rd sets),and will continue to get new ones until you
don't have their sizes.

I received the books that I ordered.
What fun!!! I loved the Kips Kids taxis, and l really liked the
rhyming/non-rhyming scheme. All rhymes can make something too sing-songy
and boring. Anyway, your book was a hit, and I can't wait to pass the
other two on to our friends.

I got to read your book, and I think it is up there with the Richard
Scary type books that my kiddos used to have in "olden days".. Best of
luck with it I think you have a real knack for childrens books going on.

My sister-in-law moved to NYC this past fall from
Tennessee leaving a very sad little Scotty, my 2 and 1/2 year old. We
have talked and read all about NY since then. He was so excited about his
Christmas present, Meece and Ned's signed book! He thinks that Meece
wrote inside where it is signed. Needless to say - he LOVES the book.

My 17 month old nephew, Zeke LOVES the book about Ned in New York.
He especially wants every time to see the page where they go on the
subway.
He went on the subway while we were there and got really into the way
the doors opened and closed, and so now when we read the book he will
point to the doors! He also likes the picture of the cabs, and of
Murray's Cheese Shop, where he actually went with Josh! It's such a
great gift, and to have the matching onesie too is just icing on the
cake!"

I received your new children's book for a
Christmas present from two very special children, Madison & Mason from
Mansfield. They must have told you that I "LOVE" penguins and Thank you
for autographing it for me! I will treasure it for many years and hope it
becomes a generational book. The children in my childcare will surely
know it by heart in a couple of weeks.

New York Author Signs Books

Ned Penguin of the South Pole
needed a vacation. He hopped the next iceberg to New York City to visit
his pen pal Meece Mouse. Fun and adventure follows and all courtesy of Kip
Cosson.
Kip, son of Jerry Cosson and nephew of Shortie Bowers of Coleman ,
visited Coleman Tuesday and held a book signing at Kay's Garden. "Ned
Visits New York" is the first book for Kip, one which he wrote and
illustrated himself. Kip lives and works in New York City. He first began
hand-painting his designs on children's clothes from his apartment 15
years ago. Hand-painting quickly turned into silk-screening and
embroidery. Kip's designs have appeared on the cover of TV Guide (Regis
Philbin wearing his design), Parent Magazine, Child Magazine, Glamour and
others.
Pictured with Kip (right) is LaNell Jacoby, the first one to buy his book
in Coleman. Kip is shown signing a copy of "Ned Visits New York" for
Jordan and Crystal Rae (above). The book can be purchased locally at Kay's
Garden, downtown, or from Kip's web-site

Many attend from this area as well as out-of-state guest!
“Getting laid off from my job was one of the best things that has ever
happened to me.” This profound statement was made by a very talented and
gifted young man who when he lost his job began utilizing the talent he
had and put his efforts into a successful career.
Kip Cosson author of the children’s book “Ned Visits New York” was
appearing for a book signing at Kay’s Garden Monday afternoon. As we spoke
with Kip he continued giving us background as to what brought him to
writing this successful children’s book.
Cosson said, “I always wanted to do a children’s book. I have a business
where I take my art work and put it on children’s clothing such as
T-Shirts etc. Approximately 15 years ago I lost my job and could not find
other work. I was looking through a store one day and saw some art work on
children’s clothing and thought, ‘I can do that’.
Cosson has a strong art background that he learned when he studied art at
Texas Tech in Lubbock. At the present he lives in New York. Also, Cosson
said he had always wanted to do a children’s book with his art work. He
met another author which had done a children’s book and this inspired him
to do his own. Since he was living in New York City he decided to do a
book on visiting New York. Thus a career was launched. It took him an
approximate year and one-half to perfect the book and his love of the work
very definitely shows in the outcome. This is his first book but we
believe many more will be coming from Kip Cosson.
Many people attended the book signing Monday afternoon. We have a feeling
that this is only the beginning of another successful career for a young
man with the outstanding talent to make children and grown-ups as well
enjoy ventures with his colorful imagination.
Cosson is the son of Jerry Cosson a graduated from Coleman High School in
1956. He is also the nephew of Shorty Bowers who has been employed with
the Coleman County Medical Center for many years in the X-Ray Division.
One interesting note, a young woman was at the book signing and we
inquired who she was. It turns out she is here visiting her mother Dorothy
Webster. Carol Webster Claphan and her husband Dale came from the east
side of Washington State. So, Kip Cosson’s work was being viewed by many
local individuals as well as those across the country.
